Reading Homework
The reading log is a way for you, your child, and me to keep track of the reading you are doing at home. It has a place to record the date, title of the book, signature and a column to mark your evaluation of your child’s reading.
Your child will be required to read a book or chapter out loud each day. After reading, you should discuss what was read with your child. Then fill in the reading log. In the evaluation section, please circle:
Hard – The story was read with difficulty and much help was needed.
Just Right – The story was read pretty well with some help.
Easy – The story was read well with minimal help.
You are important to supporting your child’s love of reading. Discussing books and sharing books with others are just two ways to model what good readers do. Savor this time together. Remember…you are the most influential person in your child’s life.
